The Registered Disability Savings Plan

The RDSP is a federal government plan that assists Canadians with disabilities and their families to save for the future. This workshop will provide an overview of the Registered Disability Savings Plan, including the Canada Disability Savings Grants and Bonds, eligibility and other tips that will assist you in deciding if this is the right plan for you. We will be inviting a representative from one of the financial institutions that is offering the RDSP to provide additional information.

Decisions Decisions........
Are you confused by all the terminology and processes involved in the decisions that you need to make when planning for your future or for your family member with a disability? Then this workshop is for you! Join our panel members - John Poyser (a lawyer specializing in Wills and Estate Planning), Keri Ranson (from the Office of the Public Trustee) and Robin Stefanyshyn and Larisa Wydra (from the Office of the Vulnerable Person's Commissioner) for an evening of Q and A's and discussion. Topics will include Health Care Directives, Power of Attorney, Executor, Trustees, Committee, Supported Decision Making and Substitute Decision Makers.

Trusts and The Role of Trustees
Robert Fabbri, lawyer and partner from the law firm Deeley, Fabbri and Sullen will provide an overview of the types of trusts that can be utilized when planning for the future for a family member with a disability. He will also talk about the roles and responsibilities of a trustee and what you need to know when setting up a trust as part of your will and estate plan. We will also be inviting a representative from a corporate trust company to come and share information about their role and the services that they provide.
