Transition Support Group for Parents
Since the day parents are told their child has an intellectual disability they have to navigate a myriad of disconnected social service. This places enormous strain on busy young families. Continuity Care believes in the strength and resourcefulness of those families. Getting together to talk about our difficulties and successes allows us to learn from others experience. Families need to know they are not alone.
Transitions Parent to Parent is a group for parents whose children will be experiencing change. They may be graduating from school and looking for work or a day program. They may be starting the process of moving from their family home.
Parents who are beginning or are in the process of transition planning for their son or daughter (either from school to work or home to a community residence) are invited to be a part of this new support group. The goal of the group is to share and gain insight, information and assistance with planning and to support each other through this challenging time of change. |
